It's June 22, 2018, and Spiegel, a financial analyst specializing in Asian markets at BIC Associates in Hong Kong, has just returned from a much-anticipated Xiaomi initial public offering (IPO) roadshow event. Xiaomi Inc. is looking to list on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in what some analysts believe to be the largest IPO since Alibaba in 2014, and the investment committee at BIC Associates has asked Spiegel to analyze the company and provide a recommendation for a potential investment in the Xiaomi IPO. BIC Associates is a large asset management company that invests the funds of retail investors, with a focus on the Asian markets. Over the last 10 years, BIC Associates has participated in many IPOs in Hong Kong, with a very good track record.
