Fixed and variable pay: New approaches
A firm's compensation policy sends a clear message to employees and, at the same time, guides their behavior in the desired direction. The initial design and subsequent administration of the compensation policy is crucial to develop the firm's strategy and spread the organization's values. In this note we analyze the key aspects of this policy, both as regards the composition of employees' remuneration -in relation to the job and to the person- and the variable part, which comprises all the more topical forms of compensation, including the trend toward more personalized compensation.
