Crisis: From Insomnia to the Challenge (Inforpress 2009-2013) - Teaching Note

This Teaching Note sets out to assist teachers in directing class discussion. Of course, it is not intended as the only way of learning from the situation described in the case. After teaching the case a number of times, each professor will most likely have his or her own particular way of teaching it and drawing upon the lessons it has to offer. Given this consideration, the document is divided into several sections. The first presents an overview of the case. Next, the case objectives and the problems to be addressed are laid out. In the following section, an analysis is made of the characteristics of the company's vision, financial situation and employees, the leadership qualities of Nuria Vilanova, her management style, and the strategy and practices that have contributed to the growth of Inforpress despite the crisis. Lastly, a proposal is made regarding the allocation of time for the discussion of the case in a 75-minute class session.
