Every company wants to innovate but generating innovative ideas and projects is easier said than done. Fostering a culture of innovation can be a painful process, as the authors discovered from their survey of more than 20,000 employees in 140 firms. In asking what they did well and what needed to be improved, they identified six key pain points that often get in the way of innovation, which ultimately come down to senior executives and managers not listening to and fully engaging employees at the frontline of the innovation effort. By using the insights and proposed remedies highlighted in this article, readers can develop their own action plan to build a strong, flourishing organizational culture of innovation.
