Description
A large, well-established telecommunications company headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, has decided to begin an overhaul of its infrastructure, beginning with a small pilot project. The case centres around the bonds used to finance this project, the short-term investments made with portions of the bond proceeds, and the company's outstanding common shares.
Learning Objective
The case provides a review of stocks, bonds, and trading investment transactions. It also allows students to practice recording cash transactions first and making adjustments to those transactions subsequently. The case is too complex to be an introductory case and therefore should be scheduled as a review case when covering corporations.
