In this case study, a project to develop biodiesel as an alternative energy source in a Guatemalan university was chosen as an example of how technology transfer between academia and industry is not only possible, but can also make a real impact. The leading actor, an academic who developed a succesful biofuel production plant is faced with a decision whether he should continue the project as academic or leave it open to scale up with an industrial business model.
