Operational Transformation at Nestlé's Factory of la Penilla
Following the Nestlé Continuous Excellence corporate initiative, the La Penilla factory transformed the way its chocolate bar production line worked. Improvements in efficiency, flexibility, and response time were apparent. However, the most significant changes that the transformation brought about concerned the way of working and the corporate culture. This case study describes that transformation process and allows, on the one hand, to learn from Nestlé's experience and, on the other, to have an in-depth discussion about operational transformation and the tools that enable it (e.g., in this case, Lean).
