The EDP Foundation
The EDP Foundation is a private, nonprofit organization that was created in December 2004 by the former Portuguese electricity monopolist EDP (Energias de Portugal). Around the end of 2009, the EDP Foundation was called to launch a corporate responsibility program associated with the construction of a huge dam in the Douro area, in northern Portugal. In this context, the EDP Foundation launched a new and innovative multistakeholder engagement program that involved "ambassadors," specialists of CSR, agronomy and local development and, of course, all critical actors in the area.
