The Roulette Wheel
The case provides data gathered from 18 hours of play at a single roulette wheel in a Nevada casino. Data include the frequencies of each of the 38 sectors over 904 spins and frequencies of the 22,527 "straight-up" bets placed. Summary data is also available on how bettors react to streaks in even-money outcomes-allowing one to test for the gambler's fallacy. The case is used in an introductory course on data analysis. The data came from Croston and Sundali (2005).
