Leading Transformation with an Agile Philosophy: The Challenge of Coordinated Anarchy
This technical note explores some organizational and managerial features of the era of ?constant transformation.? Since we have perhaps waited too long to begin transforming, it is now time to modify our approach to transformation, putting people first, given that new digital technology must be approached from the outside in order to lead in it with a sense of reality, always reaching beyond the merely digital or virtual reality.
The imperatives that govern today's managerial needs might focus on getting people to connect with a deep sense of what they do (purpose) and to go all out, offering training in what they will need along the way; instilling a culture of continuous learning; and ensuring that leaders lead by keeping up with the times.
As the future depends on whatever is done in the present, it is never too soon to revamp the way in which the ?person + team x organization? triad interacts. A suitable general criterion might be that of distributing power and simplifying the organization, in conjunction with the flexibility that a rapid response to the needs of customers and employees requires in a market and environment ?in constant transformation;? this is precisely what is sought in a culture of agility.
Starting from this context, the present technical note addresses the following challenges: How are organizations and work methodologies being transformed? How are agile companies implementing the changes?
