The compliance officer of Stent Medical, a French manufacturer of coronary stents, has to decide what to recommend to the Board with respect to two medical incidents, one resulting in the death of a patient: i) a Tips & Techniques procedure, ii) just retrieving non-implanted stents or iii) offering, in addition, free explant to all patients with affected implants. The course of action can severely impact the economics and even the survival of the company.
